Arcade air combat over a city in another timeline

A routine training sortie from your home airbase. A storm front that no forecast saw coming, one blinding flash of lightning, and your jet breaks out of the clouds into a parallel timeline. The city below looks familiar, but your airbase is gone, the radio is only static, and a wave of propeller bombers is heading for the rooftops. You are the only thing in the sky that can stop them.
